OUR STORY
Welcome to Wagtastic NZ Dog Training, where our approach is fun, force-free and functional for a better life with your dog. We could even go as far to say it’s:
Wagtastically fun dog training!
We are games-based dog trainers who build the concepts your dog needs by teaching you games to play with your dog. Sound fun? It is!! When we play with our dogs, find out what lights them up, and play games that support the skills that are missing, you can reshape the brain and grow an amazing dog for any purpose through our approach, whilst building an amazing relationship with them. We look at the skills your puppy or dog needs, look at what your goals are for your dog as their owner, and provide you with a set of games that help to build the missing link to get you to where you want to go. Whether it's calmness, recall, focus, staying happily at home alone that you are trying to work on, we have the games for you and your dog!
We work with all breeds from puppies through to senior dogs. It doesn’t matter if you have a gun dog, a lap dog, a family dog, an agility dog or a rescue dog. This training is for you!
What our clients have to say
"Jo from Wagtastic has been amazing in helping my family understand our dog Douglas's needs and behaviour. She helped us see that Douglas always had the potential to be a great dog, but that we needed the right skills and knowledge for him to reach his potential. Each time Jo visited she made a new plan for us depending on our wishes for Douglas and his progress from his last session. Jo's flexibility to work one on one, travel to our home, and work at the weekend made it such an easy process for us. We can't thank, or recommend Jo enough!"
Steve (owner) and Dougie (the over enthusiastic Italian Water Dog who loves to chase birds and possums).
"Just wanted to let you know we already have a different dog. Wow we are amazed. So much calmer after you left and just doesn't feel like the same dog. We are blown away with just one visit."
Marguerite (owner) and Alvin (the 15 week old shih tzu bichon cross with terrible separation anxiety).
"We met Jo about a year ago when my husband and I were at our lowest with our GWP Rata who is now 4 years old. Rata was full of beans, was hit and miss with her recall and was anxious and unpredictable around other dogs (this we believe is caused by her epilepsy and feeling vulnerable rather then an aggressive dog). We had been to numerous puppy and training classes to work on her social skills and commands which added to our frustration that we weren't seeing the results we wanted despite the hours of training we were putting in. We have found Jo's game-based training the best recipe for a happier Rata and better relationship between Rata and ourselves. The games we play have meant better quality time out at the park, less anxiety for both of us and coping strategies when we find ourselves in tricky situations. Jo has a calming presence and listens to what is really important to us and then sets games so we can achieve our goals. I highly recommend Jo and this training method and only wish we knew about it much much earlier in our dog training days. You won't be disappointed meeting jo and learning games."

Puppy FUNdamentals Feedback
"We had a wonderful experience at the Wagtastic puppy classes with Hope. Bruno had a great time even as a nervous dog, and quickly came to look forward to the weekly sessions. Hope was a calm presence always willing to listen to our concerns and suggest solutions. I would highly recommend to anyone with a puppy. The classes are fun, focused on core skills and provide you with a great set of tools to deal with a wide variety of behaviours. It was also really reassuring to talk to others going through the same experiences even if you were having different challenges!"
Katrina (owner) and Bruno (Labradoodle)
"Jo is amazing she has a way with dogs like no one else and really understands them. She was an essential part of our puppy's development helping us and our puppy understand each other. She remembers every dog’s different personalities and I wouldn’t thinking twice about going back to Jo when I need any extra help with our boy. Taking your puppy to Jo is the best thing you could do!"
